This Mission was launched as part of India's National Action Plan on Climate Change with the purpose of advancing research and technology development. It hopes to achieve this both through international collaboration and by following its own research agenda, supported by a network of climate change related institutions and universities and a Climate Research Fund. It also aims to encourage private sector initiatives for developing innovative technologies for adaptation and mitigation.
