Overview:

KfW Förderbank is part of the KfW Bankengruppe, a public law institution owned by the Federal Republic of Germany (80%) and the federal states (20%). As a promotional bank, its purpose is to give impetus to economic, social, and ecological development worldwide. The KfW Förderbank covers the KfW Privatkundenbank and the KfW Kommunalbank, one of its key roles being to deal with the promotional programs offered by KfW Bankengruppe in the areas of housing construction and modernization, energy conservation; environmental and climate protection; infrastructure; education; as well as information on asset securitisation. KfW Bankengruppe also has set up a Carbon Fund, a purchase programme for project-based emissions certificates, in cooperation with the federal German Government.
